Manchester United 'keeping tabs' on Premier League midfielder
Manager Erik ten Hag has given Manchester United the 'green light' to pursue a move for Everton midfielder Amadou Onana ahead of this forthcoming summer's transfer window.
That is according to a report by Football Insider, who say that United, who will be targeting a return to winning ways when they face Wolves at Old Trafford on Saturday, are 'keeping tabs' on the 21-year-old. The Reds are keen to strengthen their midfield options this forthcoming summer by bringing in a younger and more dynamic operator
United, despite the success of Christian Eriksen and Casemiro this term, do need fresher legs in the engine room and Onana, who joined Everton from Lille last summer, would certainly offer them that. He is a mobile and physical operator, who is capable of bossing proceedings in the engine room.
The Belgian international has been an almost ever-present figure for the Toffees this season, making 32 appearances in all competitions. He has chipped in with one goal and two assists, though he is more suited to playing a defensive-type role, opposed to getting forward and supporting attacks.
His performances are said to have attracted Ten Hag's attention and the Dutchman wants to add 'more power and physicality' to his pool of midfield options. He is reportedly keen for United to try and wrap up a deal for the former Lille ace, despite him being under contract until 2027.
